Green13 Address Check — a Shopify app by Green13. Last updated: 8 October 2026.
Green13 Address Check verifies that a shipping address entered at checkout contains only characters that can be printed on international carrier labels and invoices. When it finds characters that cannot be printed, it stops the checkout and shows the customer how to rewrite the address.
The check runs inside a Shopify Function, on Shopify's own infrastructure. While a customer is completing checkout, the Function receives six fields of the shipping address:
It does not request the customer's email address, phone number, payment details, order contents or billing address.
| Stored | No. The address is evaluated in memory and discarded when the check returns. It is never written to the app’s database, which holds only the store’s authentication session (see below). |
|---|---|
| Transmitted | No. The Function performs no network requests; the address never leaves Shopify's infrastructure. |
| Shared with third parties | No. Customer addresses are never shared; there is no analytics or tracking of any kind. |
| Visible to Green13 | No. There is no interface, log or export through which anyone could read a customer's address. |
| Retention period | None, because nothing is retained. |
The only data the app keeps is the store's authentication session (store domain and access token), which Shopify requires to keep the app installed. It contains no customer information. It is stored in a small database on the app's server, hosted by Aruba S.p.A. in Italy (European Union), and it is deleted when the app is uninstalled or when Shopify asks to erase the store's data.
To know whether to run, the checkout check reads two app-owned settings saved in the store itself (Shopify metafields): whether the address check is on (the date until which the store's subscription is active), and whether each address line is limited to 35 characters. They are not personal data and contain no customer information.
Because no personal data is stored, there is nothing to access, correct, export or erase. Requests submitted through Shopify's standard privacy webhooks are answered accordingly.
If the app ever begins to store data, this page will be updated before that change is released, and the date above will change.
